July Charity Partner: The Bowery Mission

What is The Bowery Mission?

The Bowery Mission is a nonprofit organization that serves people experiencing homelessness and hunger in New York. 365 days a year, its doors are open to those in need.

Established in 1879, the nonprofit has provided meals and shelter to New Yorkers for over a century. Since the 1990s, the nonprofit has expanded its care by offering residential programs and opening new locations.

In addition to care services, The Bowery Mission operates the Mont Lawn City Camp, which offers year-round programs to children, including a week-long summer camp in the Poconos Region of Pennsylvania.

The nonprofit’s compassionate care offers hospitality, food, shelter, clothing, showers, and medical access. Residential and community programs provide physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual healing. Transitional housing and alumni programs allow graduates to continue finding success beyond their time at The Bowery Mission.

How Can You Help?

Donate

Support The Bowery Mission directly through donations. Your donation helps provide meals, shelter, clothing, and funds for vocational readiness training and residential programs. Make a one-time donation or set up a monthly account for continuous support.

Goods, stock, cryptocurrency, and other assets are also accepted as donations.

Volunteer

The Bowery Mission relies on volunteers to meet the needs of people experiencing homelessness and hunger in New York City. Volunteers assist by serving meals, tutoring and mentoring clients, offering a special or professional skill, and more.

On-site volunteers must meet several requirements to ensure the safety of the crew and community members. You can sign up online to help serve the community.

Attend an Event

The nonprofit hosts a range of events, including dinners, auctions, and networking receptions. Attend an entertainment-filled event to support and learn about the nonprofit’s programs.

Start a Fundraiser

Raise money for The Bowery Mission by starting a fundraiser. Turn a birthday, holiday, or other special event into a fundraising opportunity. You’ll receive a personalized fundraising page, program photos, and a URL to share with friends and family.

Outreach

While the nonprofit serves about a thousand people daily, many still don’t know about its services. Hand out resource cards to people encountering homelessness, hunger, or other hardships and invite them to The Bowery Mission for help.
