About City Harvest- November's #EveryCaseCounts Charity Partner

This month of November, we are excited to have joined forces with City Harvest as our #EveryCaseCounts charity partner here at Casely. Get to know what this wonderful charity does to better our communities and how you can help with their mission!

What is City Harvest?

City Harvest is a food rescue and distribution organization that works to supply New Yorkers with food and resources. They collect 75 million pounds of food each year, delivering it to over 600 emergency feeding programs across the city.

Every year, the organization provides up to one million meals, which means they feed at least 1 out of every 20 New Yorkers! In addition to delivering meals daily, City Harvest offers nutrition education classes at community sites and educational programs for at-risk youth in public schools and communities.

City Harvest collects and delivers meals to those in need through programs that serve seniors, children, and others in need of food. They deliver more than 500,000 meals annually to New Yorkers across all five boroughs during the summer months when many people struggle with hunger due to a lack of funding for their meal programs.

City Harvest's Impact

City Harvest's Fresh Produce Program distributes fresh produce—including fruits and vegetables—to soup kitchens, pantries, and other emergency food programs across New York. In addition to delivering fresh produce directly to shelters throughout the five boroughs every week (which means up-to-date meals!), City Harvest also delivers fresh produce by truck right into the heart of neighborhoods where it’s needed most!

Their trucks pick up food from farms, grocery stores, restaurants, manufacturers, and community gardens. The food gets sorted and distributed to soup kitchens and pantries throughout the city.

The majority of this volunteer-sourced food goes to City Harvest's partner agencies, including:

  • Food pantries that serve individuals in need of short-term emergency food assistance
  • Meal programs serving the elderly or individuals with special needs
  • After-school programs serving low-income youth

Want to Get Involved?

If you’re interested in supporting City Harvest, there are many ways to do so.

You can volunteer with them in one of their food collections or through the Mobile Food Bank. You can also help at their office and warehouse locations. If that doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, another way to get involved is by hosting a fundraising event! Plenty of resources on the City Harvest website will help you organize an event for any type of group size or budget.

Shopping at Casely is another great way to help City Harvest, the nation's largest food rescue organization. This month we donate a portion of all sales to this charity, which they use to provide nutritious meals to New Yorkers in need. Use the hashtag #EveryCaseCounts on your next Insta post, and we’ll donate an additional dollar!
