October Charity Partner: Get In Touch Foundation

October Charity Partner: Get In Touch Foundation

Who Is The Get In Touch Foundation?

Founded in 2007, the Get In Touch Foundation came about after Mary Ann Wasil was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years earlier. Turning a devastating time into a source for good, this diagnosis was the catalyst for Mary Ann Wasil to form the foundation to ensure that women and girls can perform their own breast exams, potentially saving lives.

While Mary Ann was teaching her daughters how to do this, she realised there was nothing for girls or women to understand how to perform this vital check. That’s when the idea of the foundation and the famous Get In Touch Daisy Wheel was born.

During her life, Mary Ann used her time to start the foundation and see the rollout of Daisy Wheels in 2008. She worked tirelessly to collaborate with medical professionals, create focus groups for girls, and work with local businesses, all to ensure that the Daisy Wheel could be a success.

The Get In Touch Foundation encapsulates Mary Ann’s passion and legacy. Although she sadly passed away in 2016, her work continues.

What Do They Do?

Women’s Health Advocates & the Daisy Wheel

Using the Daisy Wheel, young women can learn how to do a breast health exam independently and make it part of their routine. It’s an interactive, easy-to-use tool that helps explain the eight steps needed for a breast self-exam. While this charity has local routes, the Daisy Wheel is used in over 34 countries.

Rather than teaching girls to ignore their health, the Get In Touch Foundation aims to create a world where girls feel empowered and their lives are cherished.

The App

The Get In Touch Foundation also has an app where all the essential information regarding the Daisy Wheel and breast health is more accessible.

How Can You Help?

GIT Your Pink On! Day

GIT Your Pink On! Day is all about inviting members of your school, college, office, or organization to wear pink for the rest of the day and collect donations from those participating. It’s a fun, easy way to fundraise.

Donate

Sometimes, hosting an event can be difficult, so you can donate directly if you’d prefer. You can do this every month or as a one-off donation.

Fundraise

Fundraising is a great way to raise money for the Get In Touch Foundation. You can do this through the GIT Your Pink On! Day or through other events, like running in the New York Marathon.

Buy A Casely Case

This month, the Get In Touch Foundation is Casely’s  #EveryCaseCounts charity partner, meaning that a percentage of the profits from this month goes directly to the Get In Touch Foundation. So buying a case will not only protect your phone, but it will also send money to an exciting charity.

Looking to Give Back? Shop Casely.

If buying the case wasn’t enough, you can support this charity by posting a picture on Instagram with #EveryCaseCounts, and an extra dollar will be donated to the Foundation. Easy! So, if you’re looking to give back this October, do it in style!
