Here at Casely, we care about more than simply providing incredible phone cases; we also want to highlight incredible organizations. That's why, each month, we give a shout-out to a deserving charity or organization through our #EveryCaseCounts blog posts. This month's shout-out goes to Get In Touch, and we're certain you'll agree that they're a deserving choice.

The Vision

The mission behind the Get In Touch Foundation is to provide clear and accessible information to make breast health easier to understand and navigate. As a local organization with a global outreach, the Get In Touch Foundation has ambitious goals that it achieves on a daily basis with the help of contributors from across the globe, all led by their board chair, Betsy Nilan.

Meet the People Running the Show

The current board chair, Betsy Nilan, was just thirteen years old when her mother, Mary Ann Wasil, was diagnosed with breast cancer. As a result, Wasil was prompted to start the process of creating the Get In Touch Foundation. After four years of tireless effort, the organization earned its non-profit status in July 2007.

Betsy played a central role in the organization. At age 17, she was acting as a Founding Board Member. In 2016, The Get In Touch Board of Directors voted for Betsy to become Acting President to fulfill the duties her mother couldn’t do due to her health.

Betsy took on the role of President three months later, after the passing of Mary Ann Wasil. While Betsy moved on to other professional pursuits in October 2022, she is serving as the Get In Touch Foundation’s Board Chair today.

Get In Touch has worked diligently to ensure girls and women worldwide are informed on how to identify potential symptoms of compromised breast health. A significant component of this was the development of The Daisy Wheel, a key part of Get In Touch's toolkit.

What Is the Daisy Wheel?

When it comes to breast health, particularly breast cancer, early identification is essential for effective treatment. The Daisy Wheel is an integral part of how Get In Touch encourages girls and women to accurately identify specific symptoms they need to look out for, which includes an 8-step guide with a peek-a-boo window and helpful illustrations to make the process as simple as possible.

Here's How You Can Get Involved

There are numerous ways you can support the Get In Touch Foundation, including sponsored runs and ‘GIT Your Pink On!’ events. If you aren't able to participate in either, simply spreading the word about this great organization via your social media channels is an effective way to generate interest and increase outreach. No matter how you go about it, the help is appreciated.
