Does iPhone 11 Have MagSafe? Everything You Need To Know

Does iPhone 11 Have MagSafe? Everything You Need To Know
Does iPhone 11 Have MagSafe? Everything You Need To Know

With experts constantly inventing new technology, tracking what technology is compatible with which devices can be tricky.

To combat the confusion, it's essential to stay informed. So discover how the iPhone 11 is wireless charging compatible and what makes it different from newer models.

Does iPhone 11 Have MagSafe?

Unfortunately, the iPhone 11 doesn’t have MagSafe technology. MagSafe was only been incorporated into the iPhone since the 12 series.

However, it's important to note that the absence of this technology doesn't mean the lack of wireless charging; the iPhone 11 is capable of wireless charging should you use any Qi charging device.

Starting with the 12 series, Apple added MagSafe, which combines powerful magnets with the ability of wireless charging, mainly for convenience. With the MagSafe magnets, you can charge your phone with a guaranteed placement when the magnets align. It also provides quicker charging abilities, and it’s this functionality that the iPhone 11 lacks.

Which iPhones are MagSafe compatible?

Only phones since the iPhone 12 have MagSafe built-in technology. While the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 are fully compatible with other Qi wireless charging devices, you’ll only get 7.5W of power. An official MagSafe charger will give faster charging of up to 15W when using a 20W or more power adapter because the magnets offer a more precise alignment of the internal coils than other wireless charging technology.

If you’re hoping that the in-built magnets in your device (pre-the-12 series) will be enough to stick to the magnetic charger, you might be disappointed. While it’s true that your device will have tiny magnets to help elements of your phone work, like the camera, you’ll find that if they stick to the wireless charger, it won’t be for long.

Does iPhone 11 Support Wireless Charging?

Yes! While the iPhone 11 doesn't have MagSafe technology built into it, you can still use this model with other Qi wireless chargers, so you don’t have to have the annoyance of carrying around wires when you’re charging on the go.

Qi charging works similarly to MagSafe technology. However, the Qi chargers don’t have the necessary magnets to align with the magnets built in the latest iPhone models, creating greater charging efficiency.
