May Charity Partner: Bee Conservancy

May Charity Partner: Bee Conservancy

Giving back is at the heart of Casely, so each month we partner with an organization helping to do good in the heart of our community and beyond. A portion of our profits this May will go directly into the pocket of this month’s charity partner: The Bee Conservancy. And with our #EveryCaseCounts initiative, you can help us to make a real difference.

Who Is the Bee Conservancy?

The Bee Conservancy, originally named The Honeybee Conservancy, was founded by Guillermo Fernandez in 2009.

Concerned by news that bees around the world were in crisis, Guillermo decided that an effort was needed to help protect and conserve the bee population.

He was raised in an area where one-third of the population lived in poverty, seeing food scarcity firsthand. Understanding the need for bees to pollinate 1 in every 3 bites of food we eat, he wanted to also empower marginalized communities (like the one he grew up in) to be able to produce green spaces and grow necessary foods.

In 2020, The Bee Conservancy slightly altered its aim to encompass the global bee crisis and to advance food and environmental justice for all.

What Does the Bee Conservancy Do?

In the past, The Bee Conservancy has run programs like ‘Sponsor-A-Hive’ and the ‘Bees Sanctuary Initiatives’, where The Bee Conservancy (under the Honeybee Conservancy) managed and maintained honeybee hives.

These hives were all across New York City in zoos, green spaces, and urban farms to act as environmental and educational resources.

But the hives are not forgotten! The Bee Conservancy partnered with host sites, empowering them to take over the maintenance.

Now, they’re all about education as a path to transformation. From events and webinars to community science projects and kids' activities, The Bee Conservancy continues its admirable work.

But How Can You Bee the Solution?

Peer-to-Peer Fundraising

Create a fundraiser with your friends or family to raise funds to save the bees. While a direct donation to The Bee Conservancy is a great start, there are more personal ways to give back, too. Raising money through a fundraiser at your school, college, or peer group can make a huge impact.

Corporate Partnership

Real change happens through little changes of the everyday person, as well as the big changes from big companies. The Bee Conservancy has plenty of opportunities for corporations to give back and empower individuals in the process, including:

  • Habitat Development

  • Education and Mentoring

  • Community Science

  • Volunteer Opportunities

Looking to Give Back? Shop Casely!

It’s important to give back where you can, and that’s why we’re proud to partner with this unique charity this May. If you’re also looking to give back, but a direct donation feels a little too impersonal, then buying a phone case from Casely will see a portion of our profits going directly to this remarkable charity.

What’s more, thanks to the #EveryCaseCounts initiative, if you post a picture of your chic case (we know you want to) using #EveryCaseCounts, then we’ll donate another dollar — just because!

So why not discover what we have to offer this month and give back in style?
