January Charity Partner: St. Jude

What is St. Jude?

St. Jude is a pediatric treatment and research center. Founded in 1962 by entertainer Danny Thomas, the nonprofit leads the way in understanding, treating, and defeating childhood cancer, blood disorders, and other life-threatening diseases. The treatment facility has developed lifesaving treatments for children around the world.

Its proceeds fund resources and technologies for cutting-edge research, with treatments developed at the Memphis-based research hospital having helped increase the childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80%.

Through St. Jude Global, the research hospital works with medical facilities in low and middle-income countries around the world to help increase the global survival rates for children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

Inspired by Danny Thomas’s words, St. Jude’s ultimate mission is for no child to die from cancer. No child’s treatment is denied based on race, religion, or ability to pay, and donations made to the treatment center help ensure that families are provided care at no cost.

How Can You Help?

Donate

Donations are a direct way to support St. Jude, helping fund lifesaving treatments for children. You can give a one-time donation or set up a monthly account for recurring donations.

You can dedicate donations to loved ones, support through the St. Jude gift shop, enter giveaways, or start a giving circle. Donations help cover medical supplies, meals, and travel expenses for patients and their families.

Start or Join a Fundraiser

You can create a fundraiser to raise money for cancer research. Your fundraising event can be anything from streaming, horseback riding, or workplace fundraising. St. Jude provides a website to promote your event, a toolkit, and access to their support team for help.

There are several other ways to support outside of starting your fundraiser. Support a local fundraiser, participate in a fitness event, or attend a gala.

Volunteer

Several volunteering opportunities are available to support St. Jude. Volunteer at local fundraising events, assist in donor relations, or offer virtual volunteer work. Join the St. Jude Crew to dedicate your services to charity events.

You can also volunteer on-campus at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital if you meet the requirements. Volunteering opportunities include playing with patients, providing respite care, and delivering amenities from various carts. Such work goes a long way in helping and comforting children who need it most.
