January Charity Partner: American Cancer Society

Christmas is the giving season, but there’s no need to stop there. This January, we’re proud to announce our charity partner, the American Cancer Society. 

Founded in 1913, the ACS has been at the forefront of cancer research for over a century. On a mission to improve the lives of people with cancer through advocacy, research, and patient support, ACS has invested hundreds of millions of dollars every year to fight cancer on a global scale. 

ACS is a nonprofit organization funded almost entirely by private donations. They have changed the lives and outcomes of millions of people with cancer, and they continue to advocate for sufferers through hundreds of events and fundraising drives every year.

How Does The American Cancer Society Help?

Encourage Prevention

Many cancers are highly preventable. Living a healthy lifestyle and getting recommended screenings can go a long way in ensuring you never suffer from this disease. Or, if you do, screenings help you get treated quickly for a better outcome. 

That's why the American Cancer Society focuses on prevention. They provide resources, information, and the support you need to eat better, stay active, quit smoking, and understand what cancer screenings you should have.

The ACS provides information services through a 24-hour helpline at 1-800-227-2345. Their website also provides tons of information on prevention, diagnosis, screening, and treatment.

They provide rides to treatment centers, lodging, post-surgical products, and an online community, so you don't have to feel like you're facing your struggle alone.

Address Health Disparities

The ACS believes in giving everyone a fair opportunity to prevent, find, treat, and survive cancer. With that goal in mind, they advocate for healthcare equity and run programs in underserved communities to address the disparities in existing care.

Foster Innovation

The ACS has invested more than $5 billion into research since 1946.

They fund groundbreaking research to better understand the causes of cancer, develop new treatments, and ensure better outcomes. They currently have more than $400 million committed to active grants that fund scientists and healthcare professionals to find better treatments.
